Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kert Nigobson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brutus Nash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kert Nigobson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brutus Nash!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nigobson throws a front kick that sends Nash stumbling back into the cage.
Nash throws a one two combo.


It looks like Kert Nigobson has been cut.
Nigobson lands the left hand.
Nigobson takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Nigobson throws a jab but it's blocked by Nash.
Nash dives in for a single leg takedown but Nigobson sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nash wants to get back to striking at distance but Nigobson won't allow it.

Nigobson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Nigobson throws a body punch but Nash moves out of range.
Nigobson tries to move into range but Nash moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Nash sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Nigobson's guard.

Nigobson tries to get to full guard but Nash has control of the leg.
My spies in HILITE Fighting Club inform me that Nash has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Nash stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nigobson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Nigobson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Nigobson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Nash manages to get himself to full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Nigobson throws a strike but Nash rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Nigobson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Brutus Nash hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Nigobson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Nash moves away.
Nash uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Nigobson.

Nigobson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Nash manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nash is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Nigobson pulls his head out easily.

Nash is staying active underneath Nigobson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Nash is in trouble now - Nigobson has advanced to mount!
Nigobson lands a big shot there that rocks Nash but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Nash tries to lock up and control but Nigobson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kert Nigobson will probably get the nod.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Nash misses with an uppercut. Nigobson saw that one coming.
Nigobson fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Nash throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Nigobson connects with a leg kick. Nash looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Nigobson staying out of range there.
Nigobson scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Nash stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Nash shoots in and gets a takedown into Nigobson's guard.
Kert Nigobson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Nigobson is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Nash parries the strikes from Nigobson easily there. Nigobson is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Nash to escape.

Nigobson lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Nigobson is just content to waste time from the top position. Nash takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Nigobson throws an elbow that misses. Nash uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Nigobson's guard. Nice move by Nash!

Nash is looking to work some ground and pound but Nigobson has wrist control.
Nash is fighting to break Nigobson's control of his arms but Nigobson is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nash in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Nigobson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Nigobson slips a nice elbow through Nash's hands, connecting with Nash's forehead.
Nigobson is nestled in close to Nash, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Nash is looking to control Nigobson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Nash avoid being mounted?
Nigobson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nash keeps working.
Nash is trying to maintain the position but Nigobson is very close to passing his half guard.
Nigobson throws a strike but Nash avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Jeez, Kert Nigobson's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Kert Nigobson's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Brutus Nash!
A relieved looking Brutus Nash thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
