The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lowery feints and as Acton raises his hands in defense, Lowery changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lowery throws a big right hand that misses.
Lowery prevents Acton from getting back to his feet.
Acton preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Acton wants to stand but Lowery is controlling the position.
Lowery looking to sit in guard and control but Acton gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Acton wants to get back to striking at distance but Lowery won't allow it.
Acton drops down looking for an ankle pick but Lowery pulls his leg out and moves away.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Acton wants to clinch but Lowery slips to the side
and Lowery counters with a nice low kick that buckles Acton's knee momentarily.
Lowery moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Acton's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Acton duly obliges.

It looks like Johnathan Lowery has been cut.
Acton throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Lowery looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Lowery stuffs the takedown attempt from Acton. Acton gets slowly back to his feet.
Acton moves to clinch but Lowery breaks away

and Lowery moves into the clinch.

Lowery has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Lowery is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lowery accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Lowery trying to control the position from guard on top but Acton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lowery controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Lowery throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Acton works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lowery seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Acton wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Lowery is now in half guard.

The fight stays on the outside here - Acton looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Acton tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lowery sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Acton somewhat.

Acton jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Lowery walks away with a smile on his face. Acton gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Lowery closes the distance and clinches up with Acton, looking for a takedown. Lowery pushes Acton against the cage but Acton circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Acton has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Lowery avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Acton throws out a leg kick but Lowery moves out of range and Acton only half commits.
Joseph Acton seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Acton throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Acton connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Lowery momentarily.

Acton drops Lowery with a beautiful combination! Lowery stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Acton is looking for the KO!

Lowery is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lowery shoots in for a takedown but Acton shows good takedown defense.
Oh Lowery is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Lowery tries to keep at a distance but Acton has taken the fight into the clinch.
Acton drops down looking for an ankle pick but Lowery pulls his leg out and moves away.
Acton is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Lowery flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Lowery is out cold! Acton holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
