Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gunnery Sergeant Hartman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hector Thewellendowed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thewellendowed throws a series of punches but Hartman avoids them all with ease.
Thewellendowed misses with a two punch combination.

Hartman closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Thewellendowed did well to prevent Hartman getting side control.

Hartman stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Thewellendowed is looking to clinch.
Thewellendowed thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Hartman if he has to take too many more of those.

Hartman's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

so Hartman counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Thewellendowed tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Hartman stands up from Thewellendowed's guard - Hartman perhaps looking for a knockout.
Thewellendowed shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Hartman counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hartman is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Gunnery Sergeant Hartman has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Hartman misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Thewellendowed shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Hartman moves into the clinch.
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hector Thewellendowed.

Hartman's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Thewellendowed tries to clinch up but Hartman circles away and keeps his distance.

and Hartman finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

Hartman closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Thewellendowed quickly recovers to half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Gunnery Sergeant Hartman just wasn't active enough.

so Hartman counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Hartman controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Hartman stands and steps away. Thewellendowed gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Hartman shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hartman showed some decent athleticism there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hartman working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Hartman perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hartman uses his free foot to push down on Thewellendowed's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Thewellendowed.

Hartman stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hartman throws a head kick that misses.
Hartman keeps the fight on the outside.

Hartman shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Thewellendowed's guard.

Hartman's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
