Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between David McCarthy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mason Storm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McCarthy comes to the cage accompanied by Busta Rhymes - We Made It ft. Linkin Park. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCarthy feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Storms jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

It looks like Mason Storm has been cut.
Storm uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from McCarthy.
Storm dives in for a single leg takedown but McCarthy sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
McCarthy slows down the pace here.
McCarthy pushes Storm back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
McCarthy misses with some punches.
I was talking to McCarthy's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

McCarthy escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
McCarthy stuffs the takedown.
Storm dives in for a single leg takedown but McCarthy sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
David McCarthy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mason Storm.

McCarthy is fighting off a takedown attempt but Storm is just too persistent for him and manages to trip McCarthy to the mat. McCarthy regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Storm shoots in looking for a takedown. McCarthy tries to sprawl out of it but Storm keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. McCarthy manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
McCarthy clobbers Storm with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

McCarthy looks to land a left hand but Storm moved out of range nicely.

McCarthy lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

McCarthy connects with a nice looking jab.

McCarthy keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and McCarthy counters with a three punch combo that has Storm backing up. Storm nods at McCarthy to acknowledge the strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

McCarthy lands a jab to the nose.
Storm shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with McCarthy but McCarthy pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Storm changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. McCarthy tries to avoid it but Storm manages to keep hold of a leg and drag McCarthy to the ground. McCarthy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
McCarthy lands a nice leg kick that just misses Storm's sensitive parts.

McCarthy cracks Storm with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Storm looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can McCarthy finish him?

Storm is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
McCarthy throws a powerful right kick. Storm tried to block low but the kick was high! Storm was taken right off of his feet! McCarthy jumps in to finish the job and the ref tackles him! The fight is over!

David McCarthy decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.
