Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cortland Cartwright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marco Macotti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cartwright comes to the cage accompanied by St. Anger. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Macotti tries to clinch up

and Cartwright counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Macotti's guard now.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Macotti pulls Cartwright in close to prevent any damage.
Cartwright throwing strikes from guard but Macotti blocks nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Macotti wants to sweep but no luck.
Cartwright wants to control from the top but Macotti keeps moving.
Cartwright postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cartwright stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Macotti swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Cartwright drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Macotti manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Cartwright has Macotti in his guard.

Cartwright is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Macotti is aware though and is defending well.
I've been told that Macotti has been drilling his wrestling of late, which has already helped him take this fight to the mat. Let's see how much of an impact it has on the outcome of the ground game.

A relieved looking Marco Macotti thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
