PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Snake Shadow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Riley Cooper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shadow comes to the cage accompanied by Snake in the Eagles Shadow. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Snake Shadow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Riley Cooper!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Frank Dennis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shadow wants to slow Cooper down by chopping away at his legs.
Cooper scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Cooper swings widly with a right hand

and Shadow counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Cooper regains full guard. Nicely done.
Shadow stays in close to Cooper's body and controls the position.

Cooper working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shadow doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Shadow manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shadow stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cooper swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Shadow controls from within his opponent's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shadow lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Shadow works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Cooper looking for submissions off his back.
We've been hearing good reports from Shadow's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
The fighters are battling for position here. Cooper manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Shadow trying to control the position from guard on top but Cooper is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Cooper looking to hit a scissor sweep but Shadow is one step ahead there.

Shadow is sitting in close to Cooper's body. Cooper has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Shadow is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Shadow is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Cooper.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Riley Cooper!
An out of breath Riley Cooper thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
