PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bruise Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sun Hui (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Lee might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Mortal Kombat Theme. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bruise Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sun Hui!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shirou Masuda and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee leaves Hui with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Hui has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Lee takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Hui tries to sprawl but Lee drives through with a takedown into half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Hui is pressing down on Lee's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Lee has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Hui pulls Lee in to control the position.
Lee slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Hui is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Lee is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hui wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lee, who protects the arm well.

Hui tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hui has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Hui tries to score with some ground and pound. Lee controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Hui thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Lee dodges the punch combination from Hui.
Hui scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Hui keeps the fight on the outside.

Lee shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hui's guard.

Hui wants to sweep here but Lee controlling him for the moment.
Hui looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Lee puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Lee knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hui on the ground.

Hui lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Lee looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hui is one step ahead there.

Hui got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lee has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hui has managed to get both his arms back between Lee's legs - danger averted.
Lee seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Hui drops back looking for a leg! Lee is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lee manages to kick Hui off! Hui jumps back into Lee's guard.

Sun Hui showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Lee is looking to control Hui's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lee avoid being mounted?

An out of breath Sun Hui thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
