The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Saru drives through with a takedown into Mejia's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Mejia could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Saru sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mejia's guard.
Mejia blocking the ground and pound attempt from Saru.
Saru wants to get back to his feet.
Saru drops an elbow to the side of Mejia's head.
Mejia is trying to stand.
Mejia wants to get back to full guard but Saru has mounted him!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Saru has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Mejia's face.
Mejia wants to control but Saru is having none of it.
Saru punishing his opponent with strikes.

Long Mejia's cut is getting worse.
Mejia is trying to escape the mount.
Mejia throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.

Saru tries to control but Mejia wriggling away.
Saru is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Mejia can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Long Mejia's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Mejia wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
