Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Delphino Atlantis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Orange Joe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Delphino Atlantis has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Delphino Atlantis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Orange Joe!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yukihiro Shimada and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick by Joe misses

and Atlantis counters with a single leg into guard. Joe didn't expect that.
Joe keeping moving, preventing Atlantis from controlling successfully.

Joe working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Atlantis doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Atlantis manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Joe escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Atlantis gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Joe controls Atlantis momentarily but Atlantis frees himself.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Joe holds on and takes a little breather.
Joe wants to sweep here but Atlantis controlling him for the moment.
Atlantis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Joe swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Atlantis is working hard here to advance position.
Joe looking to hit a scissor sweep but Atlantis is one step ahead there.
Joe is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Joe throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Atlantis sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Joe throws a low kick but Atlantis avoids it.
Atlantis keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Atlantis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Joe as he jumps to the side.
Atlantis walks forward, straight into a front kick from Joe.
Joe tries a head kick but it misses.

Joe throws a solid leg kick but Atlantis takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Joe.

Joe throws a hook to the side of Atlantis's head but Atlantis sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Joe lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

and Atlantis counters with a takedown into side control.
Atlantis tries to move to full mount but Joe actually manages to regain half guard.

Atlantis is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Joe is just riding it out for now. Atlantis eventually gives up the hold.
Joe wants to improve his position but Atlantis is controlling well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Joe gets back to full guard.
Joe is controlling Atlantis's posture.

Joe is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Atlantis trying to control but Joe is working from the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Joe is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Atlantis wants to pass the guard but Joe is keeping the position.

That was a close round but I would say that Delphino Atlantis will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Joe throws a low kick, looking for Atlantis's leg but Atlantis calmly moves out of range.
Atlantis gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Joe counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Joe pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Joe throws a body kick despite being completely out of range

and Atlantis counters with a shoot takedown. Joe fights it but they end up in guard.
Atlantis stopping the sweep attempt from Joe.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Atlantis drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Joe manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Atlantis has Joe in his guard.

Joe content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Delphino Atlantis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Joe is working Atlantis over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Joe makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Atlantis is trying to keep Joe in close.

Joe postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Joe connects with a couple of short punches.

Atlantis throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Joe not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Atlantis isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Joe stacks Atlantis on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Joe!

Atlantis sneaks back into half guard.
Joe scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Atlantis moves into full guard.
Joe stands up over Atlantis, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Joe makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Atlantis tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Joe wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
A lull in the action here as Joe stalls from top position.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Joe in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Atlantis is trying to get back to half guard.
Atlantis takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Orange Joe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Atlantis is looking to slow Joe down with leg kicks.
Atlantis shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Joe makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Atlantis really felt that one!

Atlantis changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Joe looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Atlantis is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Joe is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Joe is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Atlantis passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Joe!
Joe is desperately trying to improve his position but Atlantis has a good base and remains in mount.
Atlantis looking to control but Joe is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Atlantis working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Joe is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Atlantis moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Joe has worked his arm free - good work by Joe!

Joe has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

Atlantis goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Joe rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Atlantis's guard! Nice work there by Joe!
