PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Paul Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Vegas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Johnny Vegas was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paul Walker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Johnny Vegas!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Walker misses.
Vegas throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Walker's waist but Walker gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Vegas off to one side.
Walker misses with a wild combination.
Vegas throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Walker.
Walker throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Walker lands a jab-cross combination.
The fight stays on the outside here - Walker looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Vegas displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Walker.
Walker keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Walker looks for a takedown but Vegas sprawls well.
Walker is breathing heavily.
Vegas shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Walker as he jumps to the side.

Walker throws a right hand that Vegas ducks under and follows up with a left that Vegas also avoids with ease.
Walker lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Vegas backs up against the cage.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Vegas lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Walker has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Walker and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Vegas dives in for a single leg takedown but Walker sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Vegas jumps guard but Walker stands there with Vegas around his waist. Vegas gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Vegas is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Walker is defending well.
Vegas is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Walker gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Walker breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Walker misses with a double jab.
Walker fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A telegraphed right hand from Vegas misses the target.
Vegas shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Walker pinned against the cage. Walker gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Vegas closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Vegas pushes Walker back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Vegas tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Walker just stands there and leans against the cage.
Walker throws a knee to the head but misses.

Vegas breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nice sprawl there from Walker as Vegas shoots in.
Vegas looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Vegas keeps the fight on the outside.
Walker pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Vegas moves into the clinch.
Vegas has Walker pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Walker manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Nice body punch from Walker - that landed with a thud.

Walker pulls Vegas into guard.
Vegas wants to control from the top but Walker keeps moving.
Walker can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Vegas controls the pace.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Walker throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Vegas controls from within his opponent's guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Johnny Vegas.
Vegas shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Walker but Walker pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Walker throws a head kick but Vegas moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Johnny Vegas will probably get the nod.

Walker throws a sloppy head kick and Vegas moves out of range easily.
Walker looks to land a combination but Vegas avoids it well.
Vegas rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Walker moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Vegas misses with a wild body shot.
Walker moves in looking to clinch but Vegas pushes him off.
Walker closes the distance and clinches up with Vegas, looking for a takedown. Walker pushes Vegas against the cage but Vegas circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Walker throws a nice looking combination but Vegas bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Vegas changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Walker tries to avoid it but Vegas manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Walker to the ground. Walker escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Walker fails to land with a series of punches.
Vegas avoids the head kick by Walker.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Sloppy strikes from Vegas. Those never looked like landing.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Vegas.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Vegas shoots in looking for a takedown but Walker manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Vegas's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

and Walker counters with a nice kick to the body.
Walker tries to close the distance and clinch but Vegas swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Walker's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Walker duly obliges.

and Vegas counters by moving into the clinch.

Vegas decides to pull guard.
Walker missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Walker with a flurry of punches that miss.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Vegas scrambles and gets back to his feet.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Walker.
Walker circles away from the clinch attempt.
Nice sprawl there from Walker as Vegas shoots in.

Walker scores with a spinning back kick!
Walker fails to land with a series of punches.
Vegas tries to close the distance and clinch but Walker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Vegas crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Walker - the referee stops the clock and Vegas gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Walker. Vegas manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Walker clinches up with Vegas and pushes him back against the cage.

Walker is trying to break the clinch but Vegas has him pressed against the cage.

Walker is trying to drag Vegas to the mat but Vegas just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close second round but I would say that Paul Walker will probably get the nod.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Paul Walker.
I think Walker has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
