The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dubrov tries to clinch but Whales moves out of range.

Dubrov leaves Whales with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Dubrov is pressed up against the cage. Whales has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Dubrov down to the mat. Dubrov avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Patrick Whales. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dubrov scores with a one two! Whales had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Whales. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Whales connects with a nice short shot to Dubrov's temple.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Patrick Whales.
