Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vaughn Phillips!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, George Jampid!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Dmitry Maklakov and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jampid looks for a takedown but Phillips sprawls well.

Phillips changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jampid looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Phillips is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jampid has escaped the position, nice work there.
Jampid tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Phillips presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Phillips lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Jampid tries to reverse the position but Phillips maintains control.

Jampid throwing hammer fists to the chest of Phillips. What's that going to do exactly?
Phillips has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Jampid's face.
Jampid tries to lock up and control but Phillips gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jampid is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Phillips is staying active.

Phillips takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Phillips dives in and grabs Jampid's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jampid pushes down on Phillips's head and hops out.

Phillips stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jampid swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Phillips is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Jampid is trying to hold Phillips in close to prevent damage but Phillips has managed to pass into half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Phillips tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jampid just stands there and leans against the cage.

Phillips tries for a takedown but Jampid circles away easily
and Jampid counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Jampid misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Jampid is defended easily by Phillips.
Jampid shoots in looking for a takedown but Phillips manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Jampid's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Jampid forces Phillips back against the cage and clinches.
Phillips blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Jampid wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
A frustrated look appears on Phillips's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Jampid is looking for a triangle but Phillips pushes his legs off easily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jampid wants to control but Phillips passes easily into half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close second round but I would say that Vaughn Phillips will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Jampid looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Phillips is fending him off so far but Jampid persists. Nope, Phillips circles away and we're back to standing.
George Jampid is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Jampid shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Phillips as he jumps to the side.

Jampid tries to sprawl but Phillips drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Phillips takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Jampid feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Jampid manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Oh but Phillips is tightening it up a little... Jampid has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Jampid reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Jampid taps out! Nice BJJ there by Phillips!
