The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith throws a lazy body kick
so Antunes counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Antunes pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Smith is keeping the position for now.
Smith keeping moving, preventing Antunes from controlling successfully.
Smith will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Smith working for a triangle but Antunes defends it easily.

Antunes wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.

Smith wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Antunes.

Smith tries to lock up and control but Antunes gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Antunes lands with some strikes.
Antunes has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Antunes scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Smith?
Antunes lands a heavy elbow.
Antunes is landing with some decent strikes but Smith is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Smith tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Antunes cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Smith felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Antunes will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Smith is in a horrible position here. Antunes smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Antunes connects with a bit shot that sees Smith covering up! More strikes from Antunes and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Antunes is our winner by TKO!

A relieved looking Joaquim Antunes thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
Peter Smith spoke after the fight, saying 'Full respect to my opponent, hope the fans still want to see me fight '.
