PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Oleg Alekseev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Frazier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alekseev kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Imperium. Joe Frazier has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alekseev misses with a series of wild punches.
Alekseev tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Nice body punch from Frazier.
Frazier misses with the combination.
Frazier defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Alekseev.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Frazier.
Alekseev takes one on the chin but seems OK.

It looks like Oleg Alekseev has been cut.
Frazier's jab looks to have found its range, popping Alekseev under the eye.
Alekseev has been working on his boxing with his coaches at St Petersburg MMA Gym in the buildup to the fight.
Frazier fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Alekseev manages to avoid it.
Alekseev tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Frazier manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Frazier scores with a hook.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Alekseev dives in and grabs Frazier's left leg, looking for a takedown. Frazier pushes down on Alekseev's head and hops out.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Frazier, as that shot connected.
Alekseev misses with a wild combination.
Frazier dips to his left and cracks Alekseev with an uppercut!
Alekseev shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Frazier but Frazier pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Oleg Alekseev. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Alekseev.
Frazier thows a body kick. Alekseev tries to catch it but that hurt him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Frazier lands with a kick to the ribs.
Joe Frazier is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Frazier looks to land a combination. Alekseev sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Frazier stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Alekseev. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Frazier connects with a body shot that sends Alekseev's belly button to the back.
Frazier jabs Alekseev right on the nose. Alekseev blinks but takes it well.

Oleg Alekseev's cut is getting worse.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Frazier throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Frazier lands with an uppercut that bounces Alekseev off the cage and back into range.

Alekseev is rocked!
Alekseev tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Frazier defends well and Alekseev ends up having to push Frazier into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Frazier is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Alekseev goes for a takedown attempt but Frazier pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Frazier lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Frazier is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Frazier avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Frazier turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Alekseev is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Frazier throws a series of punches but Alekseev avoids them all with ease.
Frazier scores with a jab. Alekseev acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Nice takedown defense from Frazier. No joy for Alekseev on that attempt.
Frazier lands a really nice looking cross but Alekseev seems unphased.
Alekseev missing with a left hand there. Frazier was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Frazier drops Alekseev with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Alekseev looks back up at him and smiles so Frazier waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Oh Alekseev is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Frazier rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Alekseev moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Frazier scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Alekseev gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Frazier gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Alekseev is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joe Frazier!
