Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kuroda Atsushi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pithe Canthropus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Canthropus has chosen Pizzaman - Trippin' On Sunshine as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 33 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Kuroda Atsushi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 35 - 25 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Pithe Canthropus!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Bruno Hogan and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Canthropus slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Atsushi lands a leg kick that knocks Canthropus off balance momentarily.
Atsushi takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
A looping hook to the body misses from Atsushi. Canthropus does a little dance to reset his feet.
Atsushi scores with a leg kick.
Atsushi throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Canthropus scores with a jab. Atsushi acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Atsushi shoots in and gets a takedown into Canthropus's guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Canthropus is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Canthropus holds on and takes a little breather.

Atsushi looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Canthropus with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Canthropus is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Atsushi scores with a couple of nice shots.
Canthropus is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

We've been hearing good reports from Atsushi's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Atsushi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Pithe Canthropus hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Canthropus misses with the combination.
Canthropus throws a body punch but Atsushi moves out of range.
Canthropus pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Atsushi back to the cage. Canthropus follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Atsushi lands a nice looking kick to the body. Canthropus takes a step back to recover.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Canthropus lands the left hand.
Atsushi is looking to slow Canthropus down with leg kicks.
A jab from Atsushi finds it's way through Canthropus's defenses.
Canthropus moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Atsushi is staying active underneath Canthropus, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Canthropus is looking to take a break and control but Atsushi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Canthropus is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

That was a close round but I would say that Kuroda Atsushi will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Canthropus lands with a hook. Atsushi tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Atsushi lands with a thumping leg kick.
Atsushi misses with a straight left.
Atsushi jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Canthropus tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Atsushi was well out of range. Poor timing from Canthropus.
Canthropus cracks Atsushi with a good jab.
Atsushi throws a lazy right hand but Canthropus sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Atsushi misses with a straight left.
Atsushi scores with a spinning back kick!

and Canthropus counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Atsushi is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Canthropus pulls his head out easily.

Canthropus has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Atsushi can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Atsushi cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

This has been an exciting period of action!

Kuroda Atsushi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Canthropus takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Atsushi lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Kuroda Atsushi dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Atsushi drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Canthropus right on the button. Canthropus goes down! Atsushi follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Atsushi gets the win via TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kuroda Atsushi!
Kuroda Atsushi seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
In defeat, Pithe Canthropus stepped up to the mic, saying 'Crap. I lost. That sucks.'.
