Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mac Hansen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Reza Katebi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 22 - 1, fighting out of New York, Mac Hansen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Reza Katebi!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, John Roberts and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hansen keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Katebi.
Hansen throws a shot to the body.
Hansen bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
We've been hearing reports that Hansen has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Katebi misses with a double jab.
Katebi fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hansen manages to avoid it.
A decent looking cross lands there for Katebi.
Katebi lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Hansen throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Katebi was covering up waiting for the punch and Hansen finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Katebi is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hansen defends well.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Katebi tries to land a sweep but no joy.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Katebi is on top in guard.

Katebi is pulling down on Hansen's head. It's preventing any offense from Hansen, at least for the moment.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Katebi is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hansen is aware though and is defending well.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Hansen is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Katebi's half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Reza Katebi will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Hansen takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Katebi looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hansen has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Katebi is working away from the top position though.

Hansen tries to kick Katebi off but Katebi keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Katebi is stalling here. Hansen is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Katebi seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Hansen has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Hansen is pushing down on Katebi's leg trying to pass to half guard. Katebi is fighting to maintain full guard but Hansen has managed to sneak the leg through.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Katebi cracks Hansen with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Katebi bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Hansen's head.
Katebi throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hansen tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Katebi was well out of range. Poor timing from Hansen.

Hansen jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Katebi throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hansen lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Katebi circles away quickly and effectively.
Katebi lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Nice straight punches there by Hansen. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Hansen.
Good leg kick by Katebi there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Katebi scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

A close second round but Reza Katebi will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Hansen's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Hansen shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Katebi shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Katebi is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hansen is just riding it out for now. Katebi eventually gives up the hold.

Hansen avoids the body shot from Katebi.
Hansen misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Katebi keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Hansen on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Mac Hansen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Katebi bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Katebi throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Hansen will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Katebi's coach down at Midnight MMA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Katebi's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Reza Katebi seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Hansen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Katebi moves away.
Katebi takes a swing at Hansen's ribcage but misses.
Hansen blocks a low kick nicely.
Hansen pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Katebi throws a sloppy head kick and Hansen moves out of range easily.
Hansen is looking to wear down Katebi with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Some bone on bone action there as Hansen checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Hansen steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Katebi. That one must have hurt.
Hansen connects with an inside leg kick.
Katebi scores with a nice strike.
Hansen uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Katebi.
A jab lands there for Katebi.
Mac Hansen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Reza Katebi is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Reza Katebi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Katebi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
