Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bill Ballantine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 51 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mountain Rivera!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rivera clinches up with Ballantine and pushes him back against the cage.
Rivera drops down looking for an ankle pick but Ballantine pulls his leg out and moves away.
Ballantine looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Ballantine tries to clinch but Rivera moves out of range.
Rivera shoots in for a double leg but Ballantine sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Ballantine throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rivera was covering up waiting for the punch and Ballantine finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Rivera is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Ballantine presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Rivera shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ballantine as he avoids it easily.
Rivera has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Ballantine throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ballantine stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ballantine wants it to stay on the feet.
Rivera tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Ballantine defends well and Rivera ends up having to push Ballantine into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Mountain Rivera.

Rivera throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ballantine's waist but Ballantine gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rivera off to one side.

Rivera slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Ballantine fails with the takedown.
Rivera shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Ballantine closes the distance and clinches up with Rivera, looking for a takedown. Ballantine pushes Rivera against the cage but Rivera circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
No joy there for Ballantine, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Rivera fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ballantine sprawls well initially but Rivera persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

It looks like Mountain Rivera has been cut.

Horrible takedown attempt by Rivera or perhaps it was just good defense by Ballantine, which made it look bad.

The ref is looking closely - Rivera is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Rivera is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
