The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sappy shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Oberherr is trying to defend but Sappy finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Sappy slips a nice elbow through Oberherr's hands, connecting with Oberherr's forehead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sappy is trying to control. Oberherr wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Oberherr actively working from the bottom here.
Sappy trying to pass the guard but Oberherr defending well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Oberherr is on the bottom, trying to hold on to half guard. He's throwing a few small shots here, to keep his opponent honest.

Sappy drops an elbow to the side of Oberherr's head.

Sappy seems to be working for a kimura but Oberherr defends the submission attempt.
Sappy is taking a breather. Oberherr says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Sappy stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Oberherr to get to his feet.
Sappy walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Sappy drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
A lull in the action here as Sappy stalls from top position.
You can see the frustration on Oberherr's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Oberherr is looking to regain half guard here but Sappy keeps moving and retains side control.

Oberherr tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Sappy wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Sappy has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Oberherr tries to hold on but Sappy pushes him away.

BOOM! Sappy connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Oberherr is rocked!
Sappy has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Oberherr's face.
Oberherr is still in real trouble! Can Sappy finish him?
Sappy softens up his opponent with a couple of shots there and then CRACK! One massive shot lands there and Oberherr is out cold! Sappy jumps to his feet and celebrates on the cage with the fans, who are, quite frankly, going absolutely mental!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bob Sappy!
A relieved looking Bob Sappy thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
