The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Lapu misses.
De Leeuw scoring well with a low kick there.
De Leeuw tries to land a front kick but Lapu steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Lapu keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Lapu dips to his left and cracks De Leeuw with an uppercut!
De Leeuw tries to bum rush Lapu with a series of wild strikes but Lapu uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
De Leeuw tries to land a front kick but Lapu steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
De Leeuw plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
De Leeuw throws out a leg kick but Lapu moves out of range and De Leeuw only half commits.
Lapu walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Lapu takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

De Leeuw scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

De Leeuw takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
De Leeuw wants to slow Lapu down by chopping away at his legs.
Lapu chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before De Leeuw can pounce on him.

Nando De Leeuw seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lapu ducks under a wild hook from De Leeuw .
De Leeuw pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
De Leeuw cracks the inside of Lapu's front leg.
De Leeuw slips a straight right by Lapu.
Lapu Lapu is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

De Leeuw changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Lapu fights it off and pushes away nicely.

De Leeuw fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Lapu manages to avoid it.
Lapu has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Lapu throws a combination but it was largely blocked by De Leeuw .

De Leeuw shoots for a double leg takedown but Lapu sprawls well. He's pushed De Leeuw 's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Lapu pushes De Leeuw against the cage. Lapu is working some dirty boxing. Lapu pushes off with a quick right hook! De Leeuw goes down! De Leeuw tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Lapu moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!
