Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jack Cherry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Burley Haines (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Cherry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Burley Haines!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Eddie Farnsworth and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Haines misses with a body shot.
Haines misses with a series of wild punches.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Cherry enables Haines to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Cherry manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Haines pushing down on Cherry's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Cherry tries to roll over but Haines keeps him under control.
Cherry is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Nonprofit Vegas Elite $50 ($1000 value), so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Cherry knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Haines on the ground.

Haines looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Haines working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Haines prevents Cherry from improving his position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cherry trying to control here.
Haines seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Cherry does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Cherry won't allow Haines to pass to mount.
Haines passes to full mount!
Cherry is squirming around, avoiding Haines's attempts to control the action.
Haines manages to capitalize on a mistake by Cherry to take his back!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Haines is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Cherry has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Haines has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Cherry taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Haines doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Burley Haines!
Burley Haines was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
Jack Cherry was interviewed post fight and said 'Back to the drawing board to fix what I missed. No more no less. Embrace the grind'.
