PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jo Roblin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zephyrus Belenus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zephyrus Belenus will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jo Roblin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Zephyrus Belenus!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Steve Smith and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice defenses there by Belenus.
Belenus blocks a jab.

Belenus moves into the clinch.
Belenus misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Roblin.
Belenus working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Belenus lands a right hand.
Roblin blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Belenus doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Roblin blocking some punches.
Belenus wants to break free but Roblin has control.
Belenus drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Roblin gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Our sources have told us that Roblin has been working on his elbows in the gym.
Roblin goes for a takedown attempt but Belenus pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Roblin rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Belenus moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Belenus fails to land the takedown.
Belenus lands a slapping body shot.

Roblin closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Roblin is pushing down on Belenus's leg trying to pass to half guard. Belenus is fighting to maintain full guard but Roblin has managed to sneak the leg through.
Roblin tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Belenus tries to get to full guard but Roblin has control of the leg.
Belenus has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at EUOLUCAO MMA . Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Well, if Roblin is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Roblin looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Belenus with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Belenus is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Belenus trying to control from the bottom.
Belenus tries to get to full guard but Roblin has control of the leg.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Belenus looks like he's trying to stand up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Belenus throws a big shot that misses.
Roblin fails to land with a series of punches.
Roblin throws a head kick that misses.
Roblin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Roblin comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Roblin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Belenus can't do much from the bottom here.
Roblin trying to control the action but Belenus is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Belenus is looking to reverse the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Roblin wants to stand but Belenus is controlling his arm.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Belenus wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jo Roblin dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Belenus punishes Roblin's body with a nice straight punch.
Belenus fails with an attempt to clinch.
Roblin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Roblin throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Belenus throws a shot to the body.
Roblin walks into a left hand.
Roblin takes a jab right on the kisser.
Belenus scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Good shot there by Belenus.
Belenus lands a nice shot to the body.

Roblin darts in and clinches Belenus up against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Roblin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Roblin rushes Belenus and presses him up against the cage.
Belenus scores with a shoulder strike.
Belenus trying to stall but Roblin improves his position.
Belenus wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Roblin has him pressed against the cage.
Roblin keeps control of Belenus as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Roblin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Belenus throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Zephyrus Belenus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Belenus looks to land a combination but Roblin avoids it well.
Belenus scores with a nice right hand.
Nice shot lands for Belenus.
Jo Roblin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Roblin with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Belenus to score with a decent uppercut.
Roblin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Nice uppercut there from Belenus.
Belenus connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Belenus lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.


Roblin is rocked!
Belenus darts in and lands a big hook, right on the button! Roblin's legs crumble underneath him as he falls to the canvas! The ref tackles Belenus before he gets to land any more shots to his stricken foe.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Zephyrus Belenus!
After winning the bout, Zephyrus Belenus thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
