Barclay has chosen Roxy Music - Avalon as his entrance music. Both these fighters are unbeaten, so somebody's 0 has got to go!Andy Barclay has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Carlo Froch!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Andy Barclay!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, William Gold and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Froch throws a right and a left that Barclay avoids nicely.
Barclay shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Sloppy strikes from Barclay. Those never looked like landing.
Froch throws a shot to the body.
Barclay lands a nice leg kick that just misses Froch's sensitive parts.
Froch works the jab nicely.
Froch blocks a leg kick.
Barclay slips a straight right by Froch.
Barclay pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Barclay looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Froch closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Barclay's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Froch landing with the ground and pound.

Barclay keeping moving, preventing Froch from controlling successfully.
Froch is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Barclay is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Froch is stalling in the full guard.
Froch makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Froch postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Froch advances position into side control!
Froch trying to control the action but Barclay is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Barclay is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Froch landing a few strikes.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Froch is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Barclay is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Froch is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Barclay looks calm but he's in trouble here. Froch gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Barclay is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Froch lets go of the hold and Barclay can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Carlo Froch!

During a confident post fight interview, Carlo Froch thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
