PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bradley Romero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luis Gonzalez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gonzalez is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Burn Halo - Save Me. On his way into the cage it seems that Bradley Romero has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Bradley Romero seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bradley Romero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Luis Gonzalez!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonzalez with a lazy takedown attempt

and Romero counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Romero has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Romero is fighting to break Gonzalez's control of his arms but Gonzalez is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Gonzalez controls Romero momentarily but Romero frees himself.

Romero is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Gonzalez is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Gonzalez has escaped and now he's on top!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gonzalez is defended easily by Romero.
Gonzalez dives in and grabs Romero's left leg, looking for a takedown. Romero pushes down on Gonzalez's head and hops out.

Gonzalez wants to get back to his feet but Romero is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Gonzalez is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Romero is aware though and is defending well.

Romero drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gonzalez looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gonzalez looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gonzalez!

Gonzalez really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Romero.

Gonzalez is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Romero has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Romero got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gonzalez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Romero has managed to get both his arms back between Gonzalez's legs - danger averted.
Romero will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Romero drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Romero jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Gonzalez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Romero tries to avoid it but Gonzalez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Romero to the ground. Romero escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Romero jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Gonzalez walks away with a smile on his face. Romero gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Gonzalez dives in for a single leg takedown but Romero sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Gonzalez wants to stall.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Bradley Romero will probably get the nod.

Gonzalez ducks under a wild hook from Romero.
No joy there for Romero, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Romero throws a right and a left that both miss.
Gonzalez throws a head kick that half lands.
Romero changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

and Gonzalez counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

Romero tries to bum rush Gonzalez with a series of wild strikes but Gonzalez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Luis Gonzalez comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Gonzalez has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
