Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Frost (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Devone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James Devone has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alexander Frost!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Devone!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Elvis Blanc and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Devone shoots and misses
and Frost counters with a good low kick that Devone was not able to check.
Devone shoots in for a takedown but Frost shows good takedown defense.
James Devone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Devone shoots in looking for a takedown. Frost tries to sprawl out of it but Devone keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Frost manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Alexander Frost has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Devone.
Devone moves out of range of the strikes.
Frost leaves Devone with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Devone dives in for a single leg takedown but Frost sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Frost pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Frost throws a punch but it's blocked by Devone.
Devone blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Frost gets control of Devone's arms and successfully pulls guard. Frost will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Devone must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Devone got a little sloppy there for a moment and Frost has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Devone has managed to get both his arms back between Frost's legs - danger averted.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Devone controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Frost is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Devone really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Frost. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Devone stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Frost swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Frost has his foot on Devone's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Devone works his way back into a safe position though.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Frost has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Devone can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Devone has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Frost is proving hard to escape from.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Frost slaps away a takedown attempt from Devone, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Devone avoids a punch combination nicely.
Devone throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Frost on the side of the head.
Devone throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Frost's waist but Frost gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Devone off to one side.
Devone shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Frost sprawls well. Frost wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Devone gets slowly back to his feet.

Frost jumps guard but Devone stands there with Frost around his waist. Frost gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Devone is trying to control. Frost wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Devone wants to pass the guard but Frost is defending well.
Devone seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Frost does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Alexander Frost overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Frost is trying to stand.
Devone perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. James Devone wasn't active enough on the ground.

Frost with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Devone to score with a decent uppercut.
Devone darts in looking for a takedown but Frost gets double underhooks and turns Devone into the cage.
Frost jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Devone walks away with a smile on his face. Frost gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Devone will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Frost throws a head kick that Devone semi-blocks.

Devone manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Frost on his heels. He'll look to pass Frost's guard now, I'm sure.

Devone wants to control from the top but Frost keeps moving.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by James Devone.
Devone shoots for a double leg takedown but Frost sprawls well. He's pushed Devone's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Devone changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Frost tries to avoid it but Devone manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Frost to the ground. Frost escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Devone closes the distance and clinches.
Frost is trying to break the clinch but Devone has him pressed against the cage.
Devone tries to break free but Frost pushes him back against the cage.
Frost tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Devone smiles and moves away.
Devone lands a nice shot to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A combination from Devone does no damage.
Frost fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Devone.
Frost will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

James Devone showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Devone tries to bum rush Frost with a series of wild strikes but Frost uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Frost lands one or two decent shots to the body here. Although from his own half guard, he's not going to be causing too much damage.

Frost tries to roll over but Devone keeps him under control.

Devone throws an elbow that misses. Frost uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Devone's guard. Nice move by Frost!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Devone can do anything to dispel that myth.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Alexander Frost.
Well Frost has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
