PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lynwood Pace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dragomir Dimitrov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lynwood Pace!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dragomir Dimitrov!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Thiago Cunha and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dimitrov attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Dragomir Dimitrov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Dimitrov forces Pace back against the cage and clinches.

Dimitrov has hold of one of Pace's legs. Pace is fighting the takedown attempt but Dimitrov gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Dimitrov not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Pace not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dimitrov has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Pace is proving hard to escape from.
Pace is pulling down on Dimitrov's head to control his posture.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Lynwood Pace.
Dimitrov throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Pace counters with a left to the body.
Pace scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Dimitrov doesn't seem bothered though.

Pace gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Dimitrov wants to pass the guard but Pace is keeping the position.
Pace has a closed guard, preventing Dimitrov from standing up.
Dimitrov seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Dragomir Dimitrov.

Pace pushes Dimitrov off but Dimitrov dives into side control.
Dimitrov throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Dimitrov trying to control the position but Pace is working away.
Pace is trying to control Dimitrov's posture but Dimitrov avoids it.

Dimitrov stands up and beckons Pace to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Dimitrov throws a half hearted mid kick.

Dimitrov has closed the distance and engaged Pace in a clinch.
Pace struggles to land a body shot inside as Dimitrov controls his hands.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Dimitrov.
Dimitrov is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Dimitrov pulls guard effortlessly.
Dimitrov trying to control the position.
Pace has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Dimitrov might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Pace haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Pace throwing strikes from guard but Dimitrov blocks nicely.

Pace loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Dimitrov looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Pace throws a big elbow that misses.
Pace really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Dimitrov manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Dimitrov looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Pace regains half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pace keeping control of the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dragomir Dimitrov dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Dimitrov shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Pace manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Pace working a defensive guard here.
Dimitrov wants to control from the top but Pace keeps moving.
Pace wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Pace working for a triangle but Dimitrov defends it easily.

Dimitrov seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Dimitrov missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Dimitrov should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Dragomir Dimitrov has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Pace slips under a jab.

Dimitrov closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Pace's guard.
Pace is trying to control the position but Dimitrov postures up.
Dimitrov is stalling in the full guard.
Pace not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Dimitrov stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Pace moves into the clinch.

Dimitrov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Dimitrov wants to clinch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Donk. Dimitrov catches Pace right on the button with a cross.

Dimitrov shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Dimitrov showed some decent athleticism there.
Pace is doing well to control the position and prevent Dimitrov from advancing to side control.

Pace keeping hold of Dimitrov's head, controlling as best he can.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Dimitrov cracks Pace with a right hand to the side of the head.
Pace avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Dimitrov tries to clinch but Pace is having none of it.

Dimitrov changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Pace looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dragomir Dimitrov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Dimitrov wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Pace uses the opportunity to regain full guard.

Dragomir Dimitrov has got the better of the ground game so far.

Pace has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dimitrov can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Dimitrov wants to control from the top but Pace keeps moving.

Pace has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Pace working a defensive guard but Dimitrov passes into half guard.
Pace wants to control but Dimitrov is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Still in half guard, Dimitrov seems content to control.

Dimitrov throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Dimitrov swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Pace counters with a left and a right that stings Dimitrov.
Dimitrov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Pace controls Dimitrov momentarily but Dimitrov frees himself.
Dimitrov won't allow Pace to get back to his feet.

Dimitrov postures up in Pace's guard and throws a big left but Pace blocks it.
Pace has his hands on Dimitrov's head, controlling the position.
Dimitrov working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Dimitrov controls from within his opponent's guard.

We're going to have a standup here because Lynwood Pace wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Dimitrov fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Pace sprawls well initially but Dimitrov persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Lynwood Pace has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Dragomir Dimitrov is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dimitrov takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dragomir Dimitrov comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Dimitrov has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
