PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dave Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Boone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brown comes to the cage accompanied by Before The Fight Ends You - Hatebreed. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robert Boone!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boone works Brown's body with a nice hook.
Boone throws a left and a right that both miss
and Brown counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Boone checks a leg kick.
Boone misses the shot to the body.

Brown gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Brown keeping moving, preventing Boone from controlling successfully.
Boone tries to free his leg and advance position but Brown is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boone postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Boone is looking to work some ground and pound but Brown has wrist control.

Brown is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Boone is aware though and is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Boone makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Boone working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Brown is trying to control the position but Boone postures up.
Brown is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Boone is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Robert Boone.
Boone connects with a body shot.
Boone chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Brown can pounce on him.
Dave Brown is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Boone misses with an uppercut
and Brown counters with a nice low kick that buckles Boone's knee momentarily.

Brown throws a leg kick but Boone moved away.
Boone takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Boone misses with a straight right.
Both fighters circling a little - Brown finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Brown swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Brown misses with a head kick.
Brown tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Boone is able to avoid easily.

Brown throws a big shot that misses.
Nice shot lands for Brown.

Boone shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Boone slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Boone throws a big elbow that misses.
Boone trying to control the position from guard on top but Brown is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Boone looking to sit in guard and control but Brown gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Boone controls Brown momentarily but Brown frees himself.

Brown pushes down on Boone's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Boone is trying to maintain the position but Brown is very close to passing his half guard.
Boone is trying to stand up here but Brown is controlling him well.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Boone is not content to let Brown control the position.
Brown prevents Boone from standing back up.

That was a close round but I would say that Dave Brown will probably get the nod.
That's time! Brown's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Brown throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Boone misses with a hook
and Brown connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

It looks like Robert Boone has been cut.
Boone bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Boone shoots for a takedown but Brown saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Boone takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Brown feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Boone's calf.

Brown tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Brown throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Brown lands a head kick. Boone smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Brown tries a low kick but Boone avoids it.

Boone shoots in looking for a takedown but Brown manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Boone's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Brown fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Boone is out of range.
Boone misses with an uppercut. Brown saw that one coming.
Brown lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - Boone can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from Brown and Boone drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by Brown.
