The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Andersen throws a body kick that misses.
A head kick misses from Andersen.
Andersen blocks a jab.
Azhiev shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Andersen counters with a straight right hand.
Azhiev tries for a takedown but Andersen sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Azhiev doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Andersen cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Jon Erik Andersen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anzhor Azhiev.

and Andersen counters with a good, hard body kick but Azhiev shrugs it off.
Andersen's corner calls for a 1-2. Andersen obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Andersen throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Azhiev on the side of the head.

Andersen lands a nice leg kick that just misses Azhiev's sensitive parts.
Azhiev is still on wobbly legs! Can Andersen finish him?

Andersen drops Azhiev with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Azhiev looks back up at him and smiles so Andersen waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

and Andersen counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Andersen.

The fighters are battling for dominant position up against the cage here. Andersen manages to get control of his opponent's head and throws a big knee - Azhiev drops to the canvas! He's done! Andersen goes wild and celebrates with his corner - this is a big victory for him and to get the win in such devastating fashion will certainly boost his reputation amongst the fans!

Jon Erik Andersen decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
Anzhor Azhiev spoke after the fight, saying 'I still want that title shot. Im the most experienced fighter here and everyday wants to see me smash the champ so lets do it whenever he starts ducking me.'.
