PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between David Morrison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Pettis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Morrison's entrance music is Diary of a Madman. A fine choice. Jay Pettis will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Morrison!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Pettis!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Franklyn Lucas and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pettis uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Morrison.
Morrison misses with a lunging right hand
and Pettis counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Morrison changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pettis tries to avoid it but Morrison manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pettis to the ground. Pettis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Pettis keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Morrison goes for a double leg but Pettis avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Pettis continues to drive forward.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Morrison. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Pettis escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Pettis has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Morrison is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Morrison shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Pettis is trying to defend but Morrison finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
