PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lavern Mejia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kieran Summers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mejia has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Winston Howard and Ben Hemmingworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Summers throws a head kick but Mejia moves out of range.
Mejia is breathing heavily.
Summers fails with the takedown.
Mejia takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Summers lands with a nice body kick.

Summers has Mejia up against the cage in a clinch.

Summers escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Summers fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mejia avoids it really well and circles away.

Summers's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Summers lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Mejia backs up against the cage.
Summers goes for a double leg but Mejia avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Mejia continues to drive forward.
The referee calls for Summers to work.
Summers using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Mejia has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Summers escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A head kick misses from Summers.
Summers throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Summers tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mejia swats him away and circles back towards the center.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kieran Summers dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Summers bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Summers tries to close the distance and clinch but Mejia swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Mejia is sent reeling backwards by a solid uppercut. He barely regains his balance and Summers moves in for the kill throwing a continuous barrage of punches that force the ref to step in.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kieran Summers!
