PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Hawkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergian Erden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hawkins comes to the cage accompanied by The Second Coming . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sergian Erden!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paulsen Ambrosius and Radbod Blank.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Erden stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Erden wants it to stay on the feet.
Hawkins dives in and grabs Erden's left leg, looking for a takedown. Erden pushes down on Hawkins's head and hops out.
Hawkins is breathing heavily.
Hawkins tries to close the distance and clinch up but Erden swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Erden displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hawkins.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Hawkins. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Erden gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Erden lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

We've been hearing good reports from Hawkins's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Erden lands a couple of good shots and Hawkins has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Erden lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Erden has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Hawkins's body.
It looks like Erden might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Erden lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Erden.

Hawkins is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Erden.
Oh Hawkins is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Erden is working for a rear naked choke. Hawkins is not defending it well and Erden has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Hawkins refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Hawkins's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Sergian Erden!
The defeated Steve Hawkins had this to say: 'I have nothing to say to you stupid people the referee doesn't know what he is doing but me and my manager Don King will makes sure this doesn't go unpunished!'.
