Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Toshiro Montero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edmund Dantes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Montero comes to the cage accompanied by Danzig - Mother . Toshiro Montero has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Toshiro Montero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Edmund Dantes!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Colin Fotheringham and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Dantes misses.
Nice takedown defense from Dantes. No joy for Montero on that attempt.
We've been hearing reports that Montero has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Toshiro Montero seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Montero looks for a takedown but Dantes sprawls well.
Montero misses with an attempted mid kick.
Dantes tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Montero is looking to land body kicks.
Montero shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Toshiro Montero. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Montero throws a sloppy head kick and Dantes moves out of range easily.
Dantes walks into a stiff left hand from Montero.
Dantes lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Montero feints and then cracks Dantes's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Dantes down.
Montero scores with a hook to the body. Dantes takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Dantes ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Montero throws a left and a right that both miss
and Dantes cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Dantes lands with a thumping leg kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dantes blocks a low kick nicely.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Montero lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Dantes has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Dantes and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Montero misses with a hook. Dantes ducked under it nicely.
Montero jabs Dantes to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Montero bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Dantes scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Montero connects with a leg kick. Dantes looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Dantes throws a leg kick that misses.
Dantes swings for the body but Montero moves out of range.
Montero slips under a jab from Dantes.
Montero throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Montero blocks a leg kick.
Montero connects with a nice looking jab.
Dantes throws out a leg kick but Montero moves out of range and Dantes only half commits.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Montero scores with a body shot.
Dantes stuffs the takedown.
Dantes swings widly with a right hand

and Montero counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Dantes!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Montero advances nicely into full mount.
Dantes is desperately trying to improve his position but Montero has a good base and remains in mount.
Dantes is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Poor strikes thrown by Montero there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Dantes keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Montero scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Montero has hold of Dantes's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Dantes manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Montero throws a strike there. Dantes manages to avoid it well and slips a leg under to get to half guard.
Dantes on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Dantes is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Montero trying to pass the guard but Dantes defending well.
Dantes avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Montero.
Dantes slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Montero advances position into side control!
Dantes is looking to regain half guard here but Montero keeps moving and retains side control.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Montero is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Dantes is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Dantes is looking for a sweep.
Dantes manages to work his way to half guard, despite Montero's best efforts.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Toshiro Montero dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Dantes throws a lazy right hand but Montero sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Dantes blocks a low kick nicely.
Montero takes one to the chin there.
Montero misses with a left hand

and Dantes counters with a single leg into guard. Montero didn't expect that.
Dantes looking to pass the guard.
Montero looking to control.
Montero keeping full guard, as Dantes tries to pass.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Montero escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dantes gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Dantes tries to free his leg and advance position but Montero is retaining full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Montero is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Dantes is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Dantes wants to control from the top but Montero keeps moving.

Montero looking for a triangle here. Dantes is fighting it but it looks tight! Montero pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Dantes is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Toshiro Montero!
Toshiro Montero decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
