Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rock Sampson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Lockhart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rock Sampson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Frank Lockhart!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, David Hoff and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sampson misses with a wild combination.
Lockhart misses with a takedown attempt - Sampson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Sampson shoots in looking for a takedown. Lockhart tries to sprawl out of it but Sampson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lockhart manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Nice sprawl there from Lockhart as Sampson shoots in.

Sampson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Sampson showed some decent athleticism there.

Sampson stands up out of the half guard.
A low kick from Sampson is predictable there
and Lockhart counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Sampson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Lockhart tries to clinch but Sampson is having none of it.
Sampson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sampson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lockhart swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Sampson fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rock Sampson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lockhart looks for a takedown but Sampson sprawls well.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Sampson.
Lockhart tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Sampson easily slips into full mount!
Lockhart is wriggling around trying to escape.
Lockhart wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Sampson.
Lockhart is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Sampson lands a couple of good shots and Lockhart has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Sampson gets his hands free as Lockhart looks to control.

Lockhart is in bad spot here.

Lockhart defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Sampson's arms.
Sampson keeps control of the position easily here as Lockhart tries to buck him off.

That's time! Sampson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Lockhart lands with a nice combination. Sampson backs away looking to recover.
Sampson shoots for a takedown but Lockhart saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A cross from Lockhart lands.
Sampson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Lockhart but Lockhart pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Sampson misses with a low kick as Lockhart jumps back.
Lockhart feints a jab promting Sampson to slip. Lockhart then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Sampson slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Lockhart looking to score a takedown here. Sampson is defending well but Lockhart drives through and ends up in Sampson's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lockhart working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Lockhart postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Sampson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Lockhart, into his guard.

Lockhart is pulling down on Sampson's head. It's preventing any offense from Sampson, at least for the moment.

Sampson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Sampson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Lockhart wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Sampson is looking to take a break and control but Lockhart is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Rock Sampson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Sampson decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Sampson misses with a body kick.
Lockhart stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lockhart wants it to stay on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rock Sampson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sampson leaves Lockhart with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Lockhart drives through with a takedown into Sampson's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sampson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Sampson can't keep his opponent in guard - Lockhart advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Lockhart is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Sampson!
Sampson is desperately trying to improve his position but Lockhart has a good base and remains in mount.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lockhart is working for a guillotine from mount but Sampson frees his head quite easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lockhart wants to control the pace but Sampson is squirming around nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Lockhart is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Sampson is surviving well by controlling Lockhart's body position as best he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Lockhart showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Sampson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Lockhart pinned against the cage. Lockhart gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Sampson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Sampson showed some decent athleticism there.

Sampson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Lockhart is looking to control Sampson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lockhart avoid being mounted?
Sampson tries to stand but can't do so whilst Lockhart controls his leg.
Lockhart desperately trying to maintain half guard.

Sampson gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Sampson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Sampson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Lockhart shoots in and drives through. Sampson sprawls well.
Nice takedown defense from Lockhart. No joy for Sampson on that attempt.

Lockhart closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Sampson misses with a knee to the head.
Lockhart just leaning against Sampson, taking a breather.
Sampson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Lockhart just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rock Sampson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lockhart lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Lockhart pulls guard effortlessly.
Lockhart manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sampson manages to get himself to full guard.

Lockhart drops back looking for a leg! Sampson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sampson manages to kick Lockhart off! Lockhart jumps back into Sampson's guard.
Lockhart advances to half guard.

Sampson is defending against the submission attempts here by Lockhart.
Sampson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Lockhart looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Lockhart seems to be looking for submissions.
Lockhart working over Sampson with some ground and pound. Sampson looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

And that's the end of the fight!
Frank Lockhart comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Lockhart has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
