The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Michael Johnstone and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phillips tries to clinch up but Hurmaaja circles away and keeps his distance.
Hurmaaja gets the takedown into side control.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Hurmaaja scores with a couple of short elbows.
Hurmaaja tries to score with some ground and pound. Phillips controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Phillips is looking to regain half guard here but Hurmaaja keeps moving and retains side control.
Phillips parries the strikes from Hurmaaja easily there. Hurmaaja is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Phillips to escape.
Hurmaaja looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Phillips is avoiding damage well.
Hurmaaja works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Phillips takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Hurmaaja throws a strike aimed at the side of Phillips's head but Phillips avoids it well.
