Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jamaal Russo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Khaos Kage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jamaal Russo has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jamaal Russo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Khaos Kage!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kage has his takedown stuffed

and Russo counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Kage!
Kage tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Russo working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Russo stands up.
Russo ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kage moves away.
Russo on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Russo throws a series of punches but Kage moves out of range.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kage misses with a low kick.

Russo will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Russo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kage sprawls well. Kage wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Russo gets slowly back to his feet.
Russo fails in his attempt to clinch.
Kage fails with the takedown.
Russo throws a body punch but Kage moves out of range.
No joy there for Kage, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Russo shoots in looking for a takedown but Kage manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Russo's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kage takes a swing at Russo's ribcage but misses.
Russo takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Khaos Kage seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kage pushes Russo away with a front kick.
Kage closes the distance and clinches up with Russo, looking for a takedown. Kage pushes Russo against the cage but Russo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Jamaal Russo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Khaos Kage.
Kage darts in looking for a takedown but Russo gets double underhooks and turns Kage into the cage.
Russo is trying to pull guard but Kage turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Russo tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Kage's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Russo shoots in and drives through. Kage sprawls well.

Kage moves into range and clinches up with Russo.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Russo is trying to drag Kage to the mat but Kage just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Russo is breathing heavily.
Kage effectively controlling the action here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Russo jumps into guard, dragging Kage to the mat.

Kage decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Russo misses with a double jab
and Kage counters with a left to the body.
Russo throws a right hand that Kage ducks under and follows up with a left that Kage also avoids with ease.

Kage moves into range and clinches up with Russo.
Russo is trying to break the clinch but Kage is controlling him.

Kage manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Kage looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Kage wants to sweep here but Russo controlling him for the moment.
Russo wants to stand but Kage is controlling his posture from full guard.

Kage throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Russo escapes and throws Kage's legs to the side, diving into side control!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
You can see the frustration on Kage's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Khaos Kage will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Russo throws a right hand that Kage ducks under and follows up with a left that Kage also avoids with ease.

Kage moves into the clinch.
Kage has Russo pressed against the cage, preventing Russo from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Kage fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Kage is trying to pull guard but Russo has him pressed against the cage.
Jamaal Russo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Khaos Kage.

Kage manages to break the clinch.
Kage pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Kage connects with a high kick.
Kage tries for a takedown but Russo circles away easily

and Russo counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Kage is breathing heavily.
Kage works his way to full guard. Good work.
Russo wants to stand but Kage has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Kage is working an open guard so Russo takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Kage stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kage wants it to stay on the feet.

Kage has managed to clinch.
Russo tries to pull guard but Kage forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Kage lands a hook that snaps the head of Russo backwards.

Russo pulls guard successfully.

Kage drops back, looking for a kneebar! Russo looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Russo looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Russo!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Russo decides to stand back up. Russo steps back and let's Kage get back to his feet.
A right-left combo lands from Russo.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kage goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Russo closes the distance and clinches up with Kage, looking for a takedown. Russo pushes Kage against the cage but Kage circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Kage lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Kage looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Russo looks to land a combination. Kage sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Kage tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Russo throws a combination that misses
and Kage counters with a good, hard body kick but Russo shrugs it off.
Some wild striking there from Russo.

Kage forces Russo back against the cage and clinches.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kage scores with a knee to the head.
Russo is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Kage is stalling here.
Russo has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kage is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Kage lands a nice elbow.
Russo tries to pull guard but Kage holds him up against the cage and eventually Russo drops back down to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jamaal Russo will probably get the nod.
That's time! Russo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Kage shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kage showed some decent athleticism there.

Kage wants to work for an arm triangle but Russo is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Kage takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Kage seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Kage wants to free his trapped foot but Russo is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Russo moves into full guard.
Russo is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Kage wants to control from the top but Russo keeps moving.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Russo is on top in guard.
Russo throws a big right hand that misses.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Khaos Kage.
Russo avoids a punch combination nicely.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kage enables Russo to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kage manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Kage wants to stand but Russo is controlling the position.
Russo cracks Kage with a solid left hand.
Russo working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Kage's head.
Russo has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kage is proving hard to escape from.

Kage is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Russo is controlling him.
Russo lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Russo tries to stand but Kage is controlling from the bottom.
Russo is standing up over Kage. Kage looks to escape but Russo dives into side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jamaal Russo.
I think Russo has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
