Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alexander Emelianenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mark Turnbull!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Patrick Alders and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Emelianenko uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Turnbull.
Turnbull throws the kick towards the body but Emelianenko avoids it.
Good exchange - Turnbull coming out on top.
Turnbull misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
The crowd cheers as Emelianenko lands an impressive looking overhand right. Turnbull doesn't seem phased though.


It looks like Mark Turnbull has been cut.
Emelianenko throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Emelianenko uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Turnbull.
Emelianenko checks a leg kick.
Turnbull tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Turnbull has closed the distance and engaged Emelianenko in a clinch.

Emelianenko decides to pull guard.
Emelianenko preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Turnbull lands a couple of elbows.
Turnbull in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Emelianenko utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Turnbull trying to control but Emelianenko is working from the bottom.
Turnbull must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Turnbull postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Turnbull wants to control from the top but Emelianenko keeps moving.

Emelianenko escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Turnbull gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Emelianenko looking for subs off his back but Turnbull has passed one foot through into half guard.
Turnbull working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Emelianenko's thigh. Emelianenko counters though and makes it back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Turnbull throws a sloppy strike and Emelianenko has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Turnbull is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Emelianenko!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Alexander Emelianenko!
A victorious Alexander Emelianenko thanked his army of followers in his post fight interview, telling people to make sure they follow him on Twitter.
Mark Turnbull was interviewed post fight and said 'Congratulations to beating the best manager in the game.'.
