PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jack Stick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Burke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burke has chosen Rocky road to Dublin as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jack Stick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jason Burke!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, David Hoff and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stick is trying hard to land a takedown here. Burke sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Burke moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Burke tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Jack Stick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Burke stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Burke wants it to stay on the feet.
Burke lands with a nice body kick.

Burke fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Stick to the ground. Burke is now in Stick's guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Burke wants to control from the top but Stick keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Burke has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Stick is proving hard to escape from.
Stick is controlling Burke's posture.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Stick wants to sweep but no luck.

Stick has his hands on Burke's head, controlling the position.
Stick has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jack Stick.

Stick scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Stick is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Stick really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Stick is looking to take a break and control but Burke is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Stick looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Burke with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Stick lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Stick drops an elbow to the side of Burke's head.
Ground and pound from Stick.
Stick is keen to just control but Burke is a slippery customer.
Ground and pound from Stick.
Stick will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Nice strikes from Stick there.
Burke is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Stick scores with a couple of nice shots.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Stick is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stick content just to control the position here.

Stick cracks Burke with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Burke really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stick. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Stick landing punches.

Burke is rocked!
Stick raining down shots from the mount!
Burke is still in real trouble! Can Stick finish him?

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Stick dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Stick fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Burke sprawls well initially but Stick persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Burke seems to have recovered his senses.
Stick content to control rather than advance.
Stick works his way into side control.
Stick cracks Burke with a big right hand but Burke just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Stick lands some shots froms side control.
Stick controlling the position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Burke takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Stick is working Burke over with some ground and pound from side control.
Burke is not content to let Stick control the position.
Stick is putting a hurting on Burke here, landing some big shots from side control.

Stick grinds an elbow into Burke's temple.
Stick is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Burke can do to turn this around?
Stick working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Burke takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Stick cracks Burke with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Burke is breathing heavily.
Stick scores with punches from side control.

Stick lands a strong strike to the head of Burke. That's dazed him! Stick looking to finish here. Burke is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Stick lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jack Stick!
Jason Burke was interviewed post fight and said 'I'm comming back bigger, stronger and faster so embrace the grind and keep on pounding'.
