Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josh Barnett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and January Kwiecinski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, January Kwiecinski!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Chris Dean and Winston Howard.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnett tries for a takedown but Kwiecinski circles away easily
and Kwiecinski counters with a nice leg kick.
Kwiecinski misses with a double jab.

Barnett shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kwiecinski is trying to defend but Barnett finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Barnett is trying to control. Kwiecinski wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Kwiecinski is looking for a sweep. Barnett is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Barnett seems to be working for a kimura but Kwiecinski defends the submission attempt.
Kwiecinski wants to get back to full guard.

Barnett is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kwiecinski tries to bench press Barnett off him but Barnett keeps the position.

Barnett tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Barnett has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Kwiecinski is looking to regain half guard here but Barnett keeps moving and retains side control.

Barnett has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Barnett is really struggling to control Kwiecinski but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Barnett is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kwiecinski has escaped the position, nice work there.
Kwiecinski really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Barnett. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Barnett thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Barnett is trying to get an arm triangle but Kwiecinski is defending well.

Barnett is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kwiecinski is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
