PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Arthur Bishop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacob Koch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Arthur Bishop!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jacob Koch!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Donald Grub and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koch wants to land a leg kick but Bishop is out of range.
Koch dips to his left and cracks Bishop with an uppercut!
Koch blocks a low kick nicely.
Nice defenses there by Bishop.
Bishop checks a low kick from Koch.
Koch throws a looping overhand right but Bishop ducks down to avoid it.
Bishop has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Stu's Gym in the buildup to the fight.
Koch is looking to slow Bishop down with leg kicks.
Koch fails with an attempt to clinch.
Koch is looking to score with low kicks.
Koch tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Koch throws a lazy body kick

and Bishop counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Bishop is fighting to break Koch's control of his arms but Koch is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bishop shoots for a double leg takedown but Koch sprawls well. He's pushed Bishop's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Koch misses with a low kick as Bishop jumps back.
Koch's coach down at Team Listerman was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Koch's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Koch moves out of range of the body kick.

Bishop looks to score with a jab to the body but Koch is just out of range.
Bishop shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

The fighters circle momentarily. Koch darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Koch misses with a straight left.
Bishop lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

A close round but Jacob Koch will probably get the nod.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Arthur Bishop overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Koch takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Koch throws the left hand but Bishop avoids the punch easily.
Koch feints and then cracks Bishop's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Bishop down.
Koch tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bishop was well out of range. Poor timing from Koch.

Koch tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bishop swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Koch takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bishop throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Koch tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Bishop is in Koch's guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Koch is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Koch controlling the position for now.
Bishop is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Koch can do to turn this around?
Bishop throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Koch tries to roll over but Bishop keeps him under control.

Bishop is pressing down on Koch's thigh, looking to free his foot. Koch is holding on for now.
Koch is looking for a sweep. Bishop is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Bishop missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bishop works his foot free and advances to mount.
Bishop can't control as he wanted to and Koch manages to get the fight back to his half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Arthur Bishop.
I think Bishop has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A less than humble Jacob Koch misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
