The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Douglas fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Contreras looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

That was a close round but Jack Douglas did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it.

Contreras throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Douglas's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Contreras dives in looking to finish as Douglas flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Contreras's strikes! Contreras is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Douglas's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Douglas was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
