Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Maria Coffey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Diego Guerrero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Diego Guerrero enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Maria Coffey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Diego Guerrero!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yukihiro Shimada and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guerrero fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Guerrero gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Coffey has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Coffey jumps guard and drags Guerrero to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Guerrero postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Coffey is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Guerrero, into his guard.

Guerrero looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Coffey has picked Guerrero up and slammed him! Guerrero can't keep hold of the triangle and Coffey manages to pass to side control!
Guerrero tries to improve position but can't.

Coffey stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Guerrero fails with the takedown
enabling Coffey to counter with a crisp jab.
Guerrero lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

Coffey drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Coffey is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Guerrero knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Guerrero tries to bench press Coffey off him but Coffey keeps the position.

Coffey thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
You can see the frustration on Guerrero's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Coffey knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Guerrero on the ground.
Guerrero tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Coffey wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Guerrero is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Coffey off and has taken his back!

Coffey manages to reverse the position and now he's in Guerrero's guard. Nice work there by Coffey.
Coffey is looking to stand up but Guerrero won't let him.

Guerrero escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Coffey gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Guerrero throws his legs up looking for a submission but Coffey uses it to pass to side control.

Coffey goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Guerrero rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Coffey's guard! Nice work there by Guerrero!

Coffey looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Guerrero has picked Coffey up and slammed him! Coffey can't keep hold of the triangle and Guerrero manages to pass to side control!
Guerrero wants to control for a moment but Coffey uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

Guerrero is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Coffey works his way to full guard. Good work.

Guerrero drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Coffey manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Guerrero has Coffey in his guard.

Coffey gets to his feet - Guerrero follows without any prompting.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Coffey shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Guerrero is trying to defend but Coffey finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Maria Coffey overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Guerrero isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Coffey stacks Guerrero on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Coffey!

Coffey is trying to get an arm triangle but Guerrero is defending well.
Guerrero is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Coffey is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Coffey is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Guerrero defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Coffey connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Guerrero to escape the position.

Guerrero is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Guerrero is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Coffey gets his way!

Coffey has hold of Guerrero's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Guerrero manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Coffey connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Coffey is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Coffey throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Guerrero was covering up waiting for the punch and Coffey finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Coffey lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Guerrero down.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
