The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Alessio has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Abbot finds it's way round the side to connect with Alessio's head.

Alessio shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Abbot sprawls well. Abbot wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Alessio gets slowly back to his feet.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Abbot waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Alessio. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Alessio to the canvas! Can he finish him!?
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Abbot slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
