PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Andrzej Sternik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Easton West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sternik comes to the cage accompanied by Skillet - Monster. West has chosen Stick To Your Guns - Against Them All as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Andrzej Sternik had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andrzej Sternik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Easton West!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice shot by Sternik.
West throws a big shot that misses.
West lands with a nice body kick.
West scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

West throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Sternik uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by West.
Sternik throws a lazy right hand but West sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Sternik walks into a stiff left hand from West.
West pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Sternik shoots in looking for a takedown. West tries to sprawl out of it but Sternik keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. West manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
West uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Sternik.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Sternik crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from West - the referee stops the clock and Sternik gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says West. Sternik manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

West lands with a nice body kick.
Easton West is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
West jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
West slips under a jab from Sternik.
Sternik throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and West counters with a leg kick.
A bone on bone clash there as Sternik blocks the leg kick.
Sternik steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from West. That one must have hurt.
A solid leg kick lands there for West.
West misses with a body shot.
Easton West seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sternik has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by West.
West swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Sternik looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

West lands a high kick to the side of Sternik's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! West dives into guard, looking to finish.


Sternik is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Sternik has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. West is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Sternik.
Oh Sternik is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
West controls the position.

West is trying to get an arm triangle but Sternik is defending well.
Sternik is trying to control West's posture but West avoids it.
West advances to full mount.
Sternik seems to have got his legs back now.
West trying to control but Sternik is having none of it.
Sternik wants to hold on but West pushes him away.
West controlling the pace for now.
West can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sternik is looking to escape.
West might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Sternik haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Sternik wants to hold on but West pushes him away.

West avoids the attempt from Sternik to control.
West can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sternik is looking to escape.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
West is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Sternik is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
West wants to get back to his feet but Sternik is holding on tight.

Sternik steps to the side to avoid the strikes from West.
West has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
West misses with a low kick.

West tries to sprawl but Sternik drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Sternik is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so West is just riding it out for now. Sternik eventually gives up the hold.
Sternik is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Easton West has got the better of the ground game so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sternik wants to lay and pray for a moment but West keeps working.

West fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Sternik is out of range.
Sternik will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body.
West looks for the body kick but Sternik saw that one coming.
A decent looking body kick lands there for West.
West lets loose with a powerful body kick. Sternik will feel that in the morning.
West looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

West throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
West throws a jab but it's blocked by Sternik.
Nice defenses there by Sternik.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by West.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
West scores with a crisp jab that stopped Sternik in his tracks.
Sternik looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Easton West showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Sternik is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Sternik walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
West throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
West fakes the leg kick and cracks Sternik in the body.
West changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Good leg kick by West there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

West sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Sternik to the ground! West dives into full mount looking to finish!

West takes Sternik's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Sternik is in trouble.

West is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Sternik is defending well though. West let's go of the attempt for now.

West looking to break Sternik's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Sternik remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise West will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
West is not going to allow Sternik to sit and survive in this position.

Sternik manages to reverse the position and now he's in West's guard. Nice work there by Sternik.

West working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sternik doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sternik manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Easton West comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well West has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
