The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Jimenez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That was a close round but I would say that Donte Jimenez will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Silva throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

Silva throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jimenez's waist but Jimenez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Silva off to one side.
Silva closes the distance and clinches up with Jimenez, looking for a takedown. Silva pushes Jimenez against the cage but Jimenez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Silva will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Donte Jimenez.
