PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jordon Campbell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lenong Lego (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lenong Lego told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jordon Campbell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lenong Lego!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yukihiro Shimada and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lego shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Campbell manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Lego gets to his feet - Campbell follows without any prompting.

Lego closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Campbell did well to prevent Lego getting side control.
Campbell really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Lego looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Lego is taking a breather. Campbell says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Lego throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Campbell wants to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lego wants to lay and pray for a moment but Campbell keeps working.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Lenong Lego wasn't active enough on the ground.

Lego changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Campbell looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Campbell sneaks back into half guard.
Lego is looking to take a break and control but Campbell is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Campbell is holding on to half guard well.

Campbell wants to improve his position but Lego is controlling well.

Campbell is looking to control Lego's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Campbell avoid being mounted?

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jordon Campbell.

Lego gets control of Campbell's arms and successfully pulls guard. Lego will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Campbell accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Campbell throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lego works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Lego fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Campbell, pushing him back against the cage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Lego shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Lego showed some decent athleticism there.
Lego prevents Campbell from improving his position.
Lego is looking to take a break and control but Campbell is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Campbell wants to control but Lego is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Campbell flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Campbell has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lego is working away from the top position though.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Lego drives through and clinches with Campbell against the cage.
Campbell trying to control the position but instead, Lego has worked for underhooks and has pushed Campbell into the cage.

Lego manages to pull guard.
Campbell postures up in Lego's guard and throws a big left but Lego blocks it.

Lego has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Campbell has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Campbell creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Lego's defenses.

Lego is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Campbell working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Lego controls Campbell momentarily but Campbell frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lenong Lego has got the better of the ground game so far.

Lego is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Campbell is aware though and is defending well.
Lego is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Campbell working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Lego's head.
Campbell will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Campbell lands a couple of digs.

Lenong Lego showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Campbell wants to clinch up but Lego keeps it at a distance.
Lego tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Campbell manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Lego throws a combination. Campbell tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Lenong Lego seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Campbell is defended easily by Lego.

and Campbell counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Lego thinking.

Campbell closes the distance and clinches.

Lego has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Campbell regains guard immediately.
Lego wants to control from the top but Campbell keeps moving.
Lego might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Campbell haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Lenong Lego.
An inside leg kick from Campbell misses.
Lego will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Campbell counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Campbell tries for a takedown but Lego sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Lenong Lego comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Lego has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
