PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Delphino Atlantis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Prince (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Atlantis comes into the arena with cream - those were the days blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Delphino Atlantis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Thomas Prince!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Prince moves into the clinch successfully.
Atlantis on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Prince gets through Atlantis's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Prince struggles to land a body shot inside as Atlantis controls his hands.
Atlantis takes a knee to the side of the body.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Prince fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Come on Prince - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
We've been hearing reports that Atlantis has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Prince seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Atlantis does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Prince not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Atlantis stands and throws Prince's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Atlantis tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Atlantis is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Prince is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Atlantis is looking to take a break and control but Prince is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Atlantis advances to full mount.
Prince really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Atlantis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Atlantis looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Atlantis swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Prince is now in Atlantis's guard. A big mistake from Atlantis there, giving up the dominant position!

Atlantis has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Prince can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Atlantis escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Prince gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Delphino Atlantis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Prince tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Atlantis manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Atlantis tries to pull guard but Prince holds him up against the cage and eventually Atlantis drops back down to his feet.

Atlantis has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Prince clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
