The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maldonado avoids a punch combination nicely.
Ushami scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

It looks like Mohammed Maldonado has been cut.
Ushami throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Maldonado.
Ushami cracks Maldonado with an open hand slap.
Ushami fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Maldonado on the side of the head.

and Maldonado makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Maldonado gets a takedown into half guard.

Ushami tries to roll over but Maldonado keeps him under control.
Maldonado throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Ushami to regain full guard.

Maldonado decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Ushami, up you get!

Keb Ushami seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ushami rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Maldonado moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Maldonado is trying to maintain a safe position but Ushami gets an underhook and turns Maldonado into the cage.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Maldonado is trying to pull guard but Ushami turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Ushami is in close to Maldonado's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Ushami works over Maldonado with some ground and pound from guard.

Ushami is working Maldonado over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Ushami sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Maldonado's guard.

Ushami is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Maldonado wants to improve his position but Ushami is controlling well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Maldonado has hold of Ushami's hands but Ushami slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Ushami lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Maldonado! More strikes land and this one is all over! Ushami jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!

A relieved looking Keb Ushami thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
