Gentry is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by hammer time. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Homer Gentry!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Wesley Smith and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

James is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Gentry's half guard.
James missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
James is looking to take a break and control but Gentry is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Gentry wants to get back to full guard.
Gentry is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
James will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Gentry is looking to escape.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gentry can do anything to dispel that myth.

James slows the pace down in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
James thows a huge punch but Gentry dodges it nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
James prevents Gentry from standing back up.
Gentry has hold of James's hands but James slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gentry is refusing to be controlled, as James sits in half guard.
James not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Gentry keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

James is working for a kimura but Gentry is defending it quite comfortably.
Gentry preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Gentry is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

James is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Gentry has managed to free his arm - good work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
James takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Gentry is refusing to be controlled, as James sits in half guard.
James seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

James is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Gentry is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). David James!
An out of breath David James thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
Homer Gentry was interviewed post fight and said 'I gave it my all but it was not good enough tonight'.
