Pollendina comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Mohamed's theme tune kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, CId Pollendina!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Andrew Berry and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pollendina throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
CId Pollendina seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Alvarez throws a leg kick that misses.

Pollendina gets caught napping as Alvarez dives in and scores a takedown. Pollendina manages to retain guard.
Pollendina is trying to control the position but Alvarez postures up.
Pollendina wants to sweep here but Alvarez controlling him for the moment.
Alvarez trying to control the position from guard on top but Pollendina is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Pollendina has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Alvarez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Alvarez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pollendina not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Pollendina felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Alvarez works his way into full mount!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Pollendina throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Alvarez misses with an uppercut. Pollendina saw that one coming.

so Alvarez counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Alvarez stands up over Pollendina, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Alvarez is working Pollendina over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Pollendina looking to hit a scissor sweep but Alvarez is one step ahead there.
Leonardo Florentino Ernesto Alvarez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Alvarez throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pollendina works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Alvarez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Pollendina has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Alvarez should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Pollendina has tightened it up now! Alvarez should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
