Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Max Fincke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 1, fighting out of New York, Dean Preston !
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, John Roberts and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Preston shoots in for a takedown but Fincke shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Fincke misses with an uppercut. Preston saw that one coming.
Preston tries to close the distance and clinch up but Fincke swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Preston forces Fincke back against the cage and clinches.
Fincke misses with a punch on the inside.

Preston jumps guard.
Fincke wants to control from the top but Preston keeps moving.
Fincke is looking to stand up but Preston won't let him.
Fincke content to stall in guard here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Preston wants to stand and escape but Fincke is having none of it.

Preston has Fincke pulled in close to control his posture.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Preston changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Fincke tries to avoid it but Preston manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Fincke to the ground. Fincke escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Preston shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Preston tries to score a power double leg takedown but Fincke sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Preston somewhat.

Fincke misses the jab.

Preston clinches up against the cage.

Preston turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Preston manages to end up in side control.
Fincke is looking to reverse the position.
Fincke stops Preston from passing to mount.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Fincke tries to bench press Preston off him but Preston keeps the position.

Preston tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Preston prevents Fincke from standing back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Max Fincke will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


A head kick from Fincke lands but Preston takes it in his stride.
Fincke throws a combination. Preston tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Fincke fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Preston , pushing him back against the cage.

Preston drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Fincke is not content to let Preston control the position.
Preston is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Preston cracks Fincke with a big elbow.

Preston wants to take a breather but Fincke manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Preston .
Preston is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Fincke is trying to control the position but Preston postures up.
Fincke will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Preston thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Preston wants to control from the top but Fincke keeps moving.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Fincke slaps away a takedown attempt from Preston , before circling back to the center of the mat.
Preston fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Fincke avoids it really well and circles away.

Fincke throws a right hand that misses

and Preston counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Preston .

Fincke is fighting off a takedown attempt but Preston is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Fincke to the mat. Fincke regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Preston is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Preston gets to his feet - Fincke follows without any prompting.
Fincke really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Preston changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Fincke tries to avoid it but Preston manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Fincke to the ground. Fincke escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Preston will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Dean Preston seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Preston dives in and grabs Fincke's left leg, looking for a takedown. Fincke pushes down on Preston 's head and hops out.

Fincke cracks Preston with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Fincke throws a shot from downtown. Preston moves away and avoids it.
Preston keeps the fight on the outside.

Preston uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Fincke.
Preston fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Fincke checks it well.

Fincke sizes up Preston with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Fincke moves into the clinch.
Fincke lands with a left to the head.
Fincke throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Preston s head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Preston tries to work over Fincke's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Preston pulls Fincke into guard.
Fincke controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

And that's the end of the fight!
Max Fincke showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Fincke has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
