Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Mohamed Hassan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Barney Rubble!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hassan darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Hassan slips a nice elbow through Rubble's hands, connecting with Rubble's forehead.
Rubble blocking the ground and pound attempt from Hassan.
Rubble trying to control from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hassan is trying to work for a kimura but Rubble is defending well.
Rubble is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rubble keeps trying to improve his position.

Hassan decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Hassan dives in and grabs Rubble's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rubble pushes down on Hassan's head and hops out.
Rubble misses with the combination.

Hassan drives through and clinches with Rubble against the cage.

Rubble successfully pulls guard.
Rubble is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Hassan content to stall in guard here.
Hassan works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Hassan with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Rubble is looking to improve his position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Rubble shoots in looking for a takedown. Hassan tries to sprawl out of it but Rubble keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hassan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Rubble fails with a takedown attempt.
Rubble keeps the fight on the outside.
Hassan tries to clinch there but Rubble circles away.
Hassan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Barney Rubble seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hassan is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hassan bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Rubble throws a head kick but Hassan moves out of range.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Rubble has eaten all the pies!
Hassan stuffs the takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rubble goes for a double leg but Hassan avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Hassan continues to drive forward.
Rubble wants to break free but Hassan has control.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hassan is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Rubble sees it coming and defends easily.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Hassan takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Rubble wants to control but Hassan is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Hassan lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Rubble backs up against the cage.


It looks like Barney Rubble has been cut.
Rubble is looking to chop away at Hassan's legs.
Rubble has his takedown stuffed

and Hassan counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Rubble tries to roll over but Hassan keeps him under control.
Hassan moves nicely into side control.
Hassan controlling the position.
Hassan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rubble keeps working.
Hassan is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rubble can do to turn this around?

Hassan decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Rubble closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hassan quickly recovers to half guard.
Rubble not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Hassan is doing well to control the position and prevent Rubble from advancing to side control.
Rubble throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Hassan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rubble is working away from the top position though.

Rubble is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hassan has managed to free his arm - good work.
Rubble throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Hassan to regain full guard.
Hassan is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Rubble tries to get to full guard but Hassan has control of the leg.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Hassan stands up from half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Rubble shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hassan as he jumps to the side.
Hassan stuffs the takedown.

Hassan takes the fight into the clinch.

Rubble ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Rubble no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Hassan winds up and cracks Rubble with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Rubble takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Rubble tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hassan wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Rubble shoots in for a takedown but Hassan shows good takedown defense.
Mohamed Hassan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Barney Rubble.
Rubble tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hassan swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Rubble has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

Hassan fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rubble sprawls well initially but Hassan persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Hassan goes for a double leg but Rubble avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rubble continues to drive forward.
Rubble jumps guard but Hassan turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Rubble is trying to break the clinch but Hassan is controlling him.

Rubble shoots in looking for a takedown. Hassan tries to sprawl out of it but Rubble keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hassan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Hassan closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hassan wants to stand up but Rubble has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Hassan slips a nice elbow through Rubble's hands, connecting with Rubble's forehead.
Hassan is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hassan looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rubble with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Well Hassan has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Mohamed Hassan opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
Barney Rubble was interviewed post fight and said 'sorry to fans across the nation.'.
